Jaguars softball team moves to No. 13
The University of Houston-Victoria softball team coming off a 5-1 week, including a victory over No. 7 Central Baptist College, moved up three spots this week in the 2011 NAIA Softball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll to No. 13.
The Jaguars, 20-10 on the season, received 388 points in the latest poll and moved up from the No. 16 spot they held last week.
UHV is coming off a week in which they swept doubleheaders over NCAA Division I foe Prairie View A&M and Association of Independent Institution Conference foe LSU-Alexandria, as well as a split with Central Baptist.
The Jaguars, who shared the No. 3 spot in the A.I.I. Conference poll last week with Simon Fraser, remained at No. 3 by themselves, behind California State University-San Marcos (No. 1) and Central Baptist (No. 2). Simon Fraser dropped to No. 4.
Cal State-San Marcos remained at No. 4 in the NAIA Top 25 poll, while Central Baptist moved up one spot to No. 6. Simon Fraser, the defending national champion dropped out of the Top 25 after coming in at No. 25 last week.
California Baptist University (37-1) received all 24 first-place votes and remained at No. 1, with William Carey at No. 2 and Concordia University (Miss.) at No. 3.
