The University of Houston-Victoria Small Business Development Center recently added Yorktown to its growing list of communities where it provides monthly on-site business counseling services.
Lisa Barr, UHV SBDC associate director, is coming to Yorktown the fourth Tuesday of each month to assist local entrepreneurs and small business owners with creating strategies for growth and expansion. All of the center’s business services are confidential and offered free of charge.
“Adding a stop in Yorktown to our circuit-riding schedule is a great way to increase our assistance to local businesses,” UHV SBDC Director Joe Humphreys said.
The program is provided in an office at Citizens Bank, 311 E. Main St., in Yorktown. Bank CEO David Styra generously offered to host the monthly event, Humphreys said.
The UHV SBDC is part of a nationwide management assistance program serving the small business community and federal, state and local governments. The center offers counseling, training and technical assistance to existing and start-up businesses in an 11-county area.
