Small business owners searching for loan options can learn what’s available at a free seminar Wednesday put on by the University of Houston-Victoria Small Business Development Center.
The Access to Capital and Alternative Financing Seminar will be from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the UHV SBDC office, 3402 N. Ben Wilson St.
The seminar will cover how to receive small, short-term loans when business owners are unable to obtain financial assistance through banks and credit unions.
“It can be frustrating to get turned down for loans through normal lending channels, but that doesn’t mean small businesses are out of luck,” SBDC Director Joe Humphreys said. “There are other sources out there. This seminar will explain what alternatives exist and how to apply.”
Annie Hudspeth, Small Business Administration lending specialist for the San Antonio district office, will provide information about how to access capital to start, grow and expand small businesses.
Hudspeth has worked as a loan officer in processing, servicing and liquidation of SBA loans. She currently is assigned to the lender relations division, where she assists lenders with eligibility, servicing and loan liquidation questions, as well as marketing SBA products and services to the public in the 55-county district.
Hudspeth also is the Austin and San Antonio area representative for the SBA Women’s Business Centers, a network of nearly 100 educational centers designed to help women start and grow businesses.
Attendees must RSVP to reserve a seat. To sign-up, contact Jean Smith at 361-575-8944 or email@example.com.
