Oil and Gas Company Hires UHV Alumnus to Oversee Texas and Louisiana Operations

Bayou City, a petroleum exploration firm based in Houston, recently named University of Houston-Victoria alumnus James G. Brown to its management team. Hired as a drilling and production manager, Brown’s responsibilities will include supervising daily activities in Texas and Louisiana.

Brown graduated from UHV with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1977. Since that time, he has worked for such companies as Schlumberger and Halliburton. Bayou City cited his education and 29 years of experiences as the reasons they believe Brown will be a valuable asset to the company.

“I’m always pleased to hear about our alumni doing well, though I am never surprised,” said UHV President Tim Hudson. “The most compelling commitment of UHV is to make the quality of education we offer competitive. James Brown’s accomplishments demonstrate we’ve been doing so for over 30 years.”

Bayou City focuses on developing geologic trends in East Texas, South Texas, the Gulf Coast of Texas and Louisiana. The company uses a variety of 3-D imaging techniques to analyze prospective drilling sites.
