UHV SBDC workshop to teach business owners about federal taxes


GONZALES – Small business owners with questions about handling taxes soon will have the opportunity to get some answers from the University of Houston-Victoria Small Business Development Center.

A Small Business Tax Workshop will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the UHV SBDC Gonzales office, 941 St. Joseph St. The presenter will be David Plemons, a Certified Public Accountant in San Antonio who will provide information about federal taxes for small businesses and home-based tax breaks. The workshop is free and open to the public.

“This training is perfect for start-up businesses, part-time businesses, home-based businesses, online businesses and existing small businesses,” said UHV SBDC Director Joe Humphreys. “Filing and paying taxes can be complicated, so the UHV SBDC is glad to offer this training to area small business owners.”

The UHV SBDC is part of a nationwide small business assistance program serving the small business community in partnership with federal, state and local governments. The center offers business advising, training and technical assistance to existing and start-up businesses in an 11-county area.
