Given how critical it is for small businesses to have customer friendly websites, the University of Houston-Victoria Small Business Development Center is hosting a roundtable to address the five things every business website needs.
SCORE mentor DeeAnn Vilchez will host Business Websites Made Easy from 10 to 11 a.m. Nov. 20 in the Donna and Roger Welder Conference Room on the first floor of UHV University North, 3007 N. Ben Wilson St. The roundtable is free and open to the public.
Vilchez will discuss why websites are critical and give the first three steps for taking a business online.
“Websites are becoming the new storefronts for businesses,” UHV SBDC Director Joe Humphreys said. “A consumer can make a judgment about a business in less than a minute after viewing a company’s website. And a business without a website may get passed over altogether.”
Vilchez is a Career Technical Education clerk on assignment to Union Carbide, a subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Co. She has spent nearly 20 years as a teacher, educator and business consultant. She is a part of SCORE, a nonprofit association dedicated to helping small businesses get off the ground.
The roundtable format is designed to be informal and interactive. Attendees are encouraged to lend their perspectives to the discussion.
“Ms. Vilchez will provide sound advice, but the neat thing about the roundtable format is everyone can learn from each other,” Humphreys said. “Everyone has different experiences he brings to the table.”
