UHV students help nursing home residents create art projects

University of Houston-Victoria sophomore Victoria Gonzales, right, an education major from Austin, helps a resident of Retama Manor South Friday during the UHV Art with the Elderly event. UHV Volunteer Week featured events from April 22 to 28, and 117 students took part in the activities. In addition to Art with the Elderly, students prepared a meal at Christ’s Kitchen as well as volunteered with three area nonprofits: Adopt-A-Pet, the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent and Golden Crescent Habitat for Humanity.
