KVNN to broadcast UHV baseball home opener

Area residents can listen to the University of Houston-Victoria baseball team’s inaugural season opener live on radio station 1340 AM KVNN at 4 p.m. Jan. 26.

The Jaguars will play a doubleheader against Laredo Community College at Riverside Stadium in Riverside Park.

“This will give more people the opportunity to find out how the Jaguars do in their first game this season,” said Ashley Walyuchow, UHV interim athletic director. “I’m sure it will be exciting.”

Future baseball and softball games may be broadcast on KVNN and on the Internet, via the UHV athletics site, Walyuchow said.

The second game of the doubleheader will begin at 6 p.m. Jan. 26. The Jaguars will face Laredo again at 1 and 3 p.m. Jan. 27 at Riverside Stadium, while the softball team has its first home doubleheader against Mount Marty College at 5 and 7 p.m. March 5 at Burdge Field in the St. Joseph-O’Connor Athletic Complex.

Baseball tickets are $10 for reserved seats and $5 for general admission. Non-UHV students with a valid school ID will pay $3, while children under age 11 can get in free when accompanied by a paying adult. UHV faculty, staff and students can attend the games for free with a valid UHV ID.
