Softball debut a success

The UHV Jaguars softball team rebounded from a slow start to finish up the weekend at the Galveston Island Invitational with a 3 wins 2 losses record. On Friday, the Jags lost their opener to Alvin 5-4 in an extra inning. The second game proved to be a different story as the Jags pounded out 17 hits en route to a 13-9 come from behind win over Galveston College. The Jags trailed 5-0 after 1 but clawed their way back to force the international tie breaker and get the win. Kristen Lindley hit a 2 run homer and Cayla Dluhos drove in the winning run. The nightcap was a disappointment, as the Jags fell to Blinn College 5-4.

Saturday the Jaguars went 2 for 2 beating Lamar State College 10-5. The Jags pounced for 5 runs in the 5th to put the game away. In the finale, against Texarkana College, Lauren Garza threw a 2 hitter and struck out 11 as the Jags won 3-1.
