Gov. Rick Perry to visit UHV on Thursday

Texas Gov. Rick Perry will visit the University of Houston-Victoria for a ceremonial signing of House Bill 1056, the legislation he formally signed in June to allow the university to admit underclassmen.

WHERE: UHV Multi-Purpose Room, 3007 N. Ben Wilson, Victoria
ATTENDEES: Gov. Perry, state Rep. Geanie Morrison, state Sen. Glenn Hegar, and city and county officials. The public also is invited.

The governor signed HB 1056 on June 19, paving the way for the university to add freshmen and sophomores in the fall of 2010. Rep. Morrison sponsored HB 1056, and Sen. Hegar introduced identical companion bill SB 567 into the Senate.
