Eric Gracia, a graduate of Harlingen High School in Harlingen, plans to study computer science at the University of Houston-Victoria this fall as a part of the FIRST 200 freshman class.

He tested his interest in the subject this past school year by competing in Universal Interscholastic League Computer Science competitions after an injury prevented him from playing sports.

“I chose UHV because the city of Victoria seems like a great place to go to college – not too big but not too small,” Gracia said.

Aside from computers, he also competed in basketball, which he’s played since he was 4 years old, and UIL Poetry.

The University of Houston-Victoria, located in the heart of the Coastal Bend region, offers courses leading to more than 65 bachelor’s and master’s degree programs and concentrations in the schools of Arts & Sciences, Business Administration, Education & Human Development, and Nursing. UHV provides face-to-face classes at its Victoria campus as well as teaching sites in Fort Bend and Harris counties, and online classes that students can take from anywhere. Since its founding in 1973, UHV has provided students with a quality university education from excellent faculty at an affordable price.
