Student aspires to be teacher

Ana Gabriela Cervantes

Ana Gabriela Cervantes, a senior at Morton Ranch High School in Katy, first noticed the University of Houston-Victoria because of the reputation of the School of Education & Human Development.

But she’s also excited about being a part of the FIRST 200 freshmen.

“Being part of the FIRST 200 will be a wonderful experience to have this fall,” she said.

Cervantes plans to be an elementary school teacher someday. In the meantime, she plans to be a regular at UHV Jaguars softball games.

“I love softball,” she said.

She is involved in many high school student organizations and previously was vice president of the German Club.

The University of Houston-Victoria, located in the heart of the Coastal Bend region, offers courses leading to 70 bachelor’s and master’s degree programs and concentrations in the schools of Arts & Sciences; Business Administration; and Education, Health Professions & Human Development. UHV provides face-to-face classes at its Victoria campus, as well as teaching sites in Fort Bend and Harris counties, and online classes that students can take from anywhere. Since its founding in 1973, UHV has provided students with a quality university education from excellent faculty at an affordable price.
