UHV ranks in top 20 on affordable distance learning list

A website dedicated to analyzing affordable online degree programs recently selected the University of Houston-Victoria in its rankings of “Online Colleges in Texas That Win on Affordability.”

AffordableCollegesOnline.org put UHV No. 20 out of 53 Texas public and private colleges and universities that made the company’s affordable distance learning list.

UHV President Phil Castille said the university is committed to providing strong online programs that meet the needs of rural and other students in the Crossroads region and beyond.

“Since many of our nontraditional students are balancing work, family and civic obligations along with school, it’s imperative that we offer the convenience of online programs,” he said. “UHV has embraced new technologies to extend our online program inventory to meet rising workforce needs. I’m pleased our efforts to have quality, affordable online programs were recognized by AffordableCollegesOnline.org.”

The company recently analyzed online degree programs from more than 2,000 accredited colleges and universities across the nation. AffordableCollegesOnline.org used data collected by various sources, including the National Center for Education Statistics, Integrated Postsecondary Education Data Systems, Carnegie Classification and payscale.com, to look at four-year, accredited online degree programs, both public and private, that offer reasonable price tags for students.

The company found UHV’s combination of quality, affordability and flexibility gave the university an exceptional collection of distance learning options.
