Careers organization ranks UHV BBA in top 10 best online programs

The University of Houston-Victoria School of Business Administration recently was lauded by a career resource website for its quality and economical undergraduate online programs.

Create a Career ranked UHV No. 10 in the nation on its list of 20 Best Affordable Online Bachelor of Business Administration Degree Programs.

Farhang Niroomand

Farhang Niroomand, dean of the UHV School of Business Administration, said the ranking is another sign UHV is succeeding in offering first-rate programs with an affordable price tag.

“Being part of these rankings is beneficial to raising awareness about the quality, accessibility and value of a UHV business degree,” he said. “We have students from around the globe who appreciate the convenience of our online programs.”

Create a Career is an independent organization that provides relevant information to help professionals, job seekers and students make informed choices. The BBA list was created to inform prospective online business students about schools. The rankings are based on quality of the degree program, types of classes offered, other rankings, the quality of online education and the school’s overall reputation.

The UHV School of Business Administration offers BBA degrees in accounting, finance, general business, management, marketing, health care administration and supply chain management. Classes are offered face to face in Victoria, Sugar Land and Katy, as well as online. Some degrees can be finished completely online. The school had 1,882 students in fall 2013, including more than 1,000 pursuing a BBA.

Jeff Blodgett

The UHV School of Business Administration is accredited by AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. This is the highest level of accreditation available to business schools, and less than 5 percent of business schools worldwide have earned it.

Jeff Blodgett, associate dean of the business school, said he was pleased to be ranked by Create a Career, but an argument could be made to move UHV higher on the list because of the school’s AACSB accreditation.

“In our opinion, this makes a bachelor’s degree from UHV even more economical and a better value,” he said. “AACSB is considered one of higher education’s most rigorous and prestigious accrediting bodies.”

The online BBA previously was named the No. 8 Best Buy in Distance Education by GetEducated.com in 2013.
