Students have one more chance to attend Jaguar Day

The University of Houston-Victoria is hosting one more open house event this school year for high school seniors and prospective students.

Billy Lagal

“As students begin to make their final choice about which university to attend in the fall, we want to make sure all their questions are answered,” said Billy Lagal, UHV director of admissions and student recruitment. “Admissions and financial aid deadlines are coming up, and our final Jaguar Day is an excellent opportunity for students to get firsthand help with the enrollment process.”

Jaguar Day will be from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 27. The event is open to all prospective students including freshmen, transfer students and graduate students. Attendees can come and go throughout the day. Check-in will take place at Jaguar Hall, 2705 Houston Highway. Lunch is provided at Jaguar Hall Dining.

During the open house, attendees can tour campus, meet with admissions and financial aid staff, and talk with faculty members about degree programs. jaX the Jaguar will be there to welcome prospective students, and attendees can purchase UHV items.

Participants also can learn about student life activities, honor societies, student organizations, athletics, student jobs and internships, and student support offerings, including tutoring and success coach mentoring.

Students can take a look at UHV residence halls with tours that showcase rooms, fitness areas, student lounges, kitchens and computer labs. Participants also can ride the UHV shuttle buses to visit the rest of campus and tour Victoria. The city tours will be offered at 10:45 a.m., noon and 1 p.m.

“Jaguar Days give students an unique opportunity to get acquainted with the university,” Lagal said. “I hope plenty of students take advantage of this open house event and explore UHV. The university has a lot to offer, and I encourage students to examine the campus, residence halls and community in person.”
