The University of Houston-Victoria School of Business Administration recently earned a national ranking as one of the 50 best online undergraduate business programs.

CollegeChoice.net placed the school on its Best Online Bachelor’s in Business 2016 list. The website chose the schools based on reputation, determined by information from outlets such as U.S. News & World Report, and affordability. The UHV Bachelor of Business Administration offers concentrations in several areas including accounting, finance, health care administration, human resources management and supply chain management.

“The UHV School of Business Administration’s online BBA has earned numerous nods and rankings from various groups,” said Farhang Niroomand, dean of the school. “Our accreditation by AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business as well as faculty members with real-world experience, a focus on innovation in online education and a strong supporting staff, come together to make this program one of the best in the country.”

The ability to offer an online program is crucial to the university’s long-term mission of student outreach, said Stephanie Solansky, a UHV associate professor of management and chair of the School of Business Administration Management & Marketing Department. The online option is especially convenient for nontraditional students who often are pursuing a degree while working. In addition, the online program allows students anywhere to earn their degree.

“This ranking is another feather in our cap at the UHV School of Business Administration,” Solansky said. “It’s a testament to the quality of the faculty and staff, and the work they do to serve our students. We want to be sure students get a top-quality, affordable degree, and this ranking confirms that.”

Solansky teaches at least one online class every semester, and she makes sure her students have plenty of resources. Faculty members teaching online courses can use software tools, including Skype, Adobe Connect and Panopto, as well as online discussion boards, video lectures and live video conferences.

“I want to be there and accessible for my online students just as much as I would be for my face-to-face classes,” Solansky said. “I want them to know I am invested in helping them be successful.”
