Nonprofit Colleges Online recently ranked three University of Houston-Victoria undergraduate programs for putting students before profits and education before the bottom line.

The rankings are:

  • No. 24 – Best Online Bachelor’s in Liberal Studies (Bachelor of Arts in humanities)
  • No. 34 – Best Online Bachelor’s in Healthcare Administration (Bachelor of Business Administration in healthcare administration)

The lists are part of the national website’s Students Before Profits Awards, which recognizes affordable, flexible options for students working toward their degrees. When ranking the programs on each list, the website chose schools that are accredited, nonprofit and affordable.

The UHV School of Arts & Sciences’ Bachelor of Arts in humanities was acknowledged for three of its concentration options: creative writing, English and history. The program leads to many career options including teaching, journalism, publishing, advertising, historical research and archives. UHV is one of four Texas universities included in the list.

“When it comes to online education, the UHV School of Arts & Sciences focuses first and foremost on offering a quality program that meets students’ needs,” said Jeffrey Di Leo, dean of the school. “We want to equip our students to make their mark on the world through affordable, accessible means. This ranking is welcome confirmation of those goals.”

The UHV School of Business Administration’s BBA in healthcare administration was recognized for students’ ability to access the program online, which allows students a flexible schedule. Graduates of the healthcare administration program will be able to use their skills to manage and grow the business side of the healthcare industry. Only four Texas institutions were included in the list.

The school’s BBA in marketing also was applauded for its online accessibility and flexibility. Students in the marketing concentration will learn to promote goods and services by analyzing consumer behavior and other marketplace data. Only two other Texas schools were included on the list.

“The UHV School of Business administration puts a heavy emphasis on quality, accessibility and affordability,” said Farhang Niroomand, dean of the school. “The healthcare administration and marketing concentrations are two excellent, student-centered options. These rankings are gratifying acknowledgements of our program.”
