UHV announces 2009 softball schedule; season tickets also on sale

The University of Houston-Victoria announced its schedule today for the 2009 softball season in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. This year’s 22-date schedule features a total of 12 home games, played on six dates.

Once again, Burdge Field will be the home of Jaguars softball in 2009.Burdge Field is located in the St. Joseph High School O’Connor Athletic Complex.

The Jaguars will open the season at the Galveston tournament in early February and will play their home opener doubleheader Feb. 14 against NAIA opponent Texas College.

“Yet again, the Jaguars will have a tough schedule,” UHV Athletic Director Ashley Walyuchow said. “Houston Baptist and the tournaments will be good tests for the Jaguars.”

UHV head softball coach Keri Lambeth said the softball team is up to the test.

“As I’ve said before, to be the best, we have to play the best,” Lambeth said.“We will face some of the best teams in the country at the Oklahoma City and Orange Beach Tournaments.”

Softball season passes are now on sale at the UHV Athletics Office, located in Room 122 of the University Center, 3007 N. Ben Wilson. All seating at Burdge Field is general admission.Adult season passes are $50.Non-UHV student passes are $30.

The 2008 Jaguars finished last season ranked 15th in the country with a record of 32 wins and 18 losses. The team participated in the NAIA Regional Championship.
