The University of Houston-Victoria Small Business Development Center, Texas Veterans Commission, Texas Veterans Leadership Program and Workforce Solutions Golden Crescent are sponsoring the Golden Crescent Veterans Business Boost and Outreach event in the Sam Houston Room at Workforce Solutions, 120 S. “This event will allow veterans to find out about all the wonderful opportunities available to them if they’re interested in opening a business,” SBDC Director Joe Harper said.

The free seminar will last from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. Lunch will be provided.

The educational seminar will include basic business start-up planning with a focus on resources and programs available to veterans. Featured speakers from the sponsoring organizations will present information about government contracting and micro loans, as well as the Patriot Express Loan Initiative, which provides loans for veterans and members of the military who want to establish or expand small businesses.

In addition, veteran service providers and organizations will have representatives at the event to answer questions and provide information. The organizations include the Victoria VA Outpatient Clinic, Texas Veterans Commission, Texas Veterans Land Board, Texas Veterans Leadership Program, 211 Information and Referral, and Victoria Veterans Council.
