UHV students deliver Giving Tree donations to nonprofit groups

Michelle Looza, University of Houston-Victoria Student Government Association vice president, wheels out some of the Giving Tree donations collected for five local charities. SGA annually puts up a Giving Tree and asks UHV faculty, staff and students, and community members to place donations for different nonprofit organizations under the tree. This year, items were collected for Adopt-A-Pet, Food Bank of the Golden Crescent, Mid-Coast Family Services, the Old Landmark Committee and Victoria Trap-Neuter-Return. Looza and SGA member Juan Diego Martinez delivered the donations to the organizations on Thursday.

The University of Houston-Victoria, located in the heart of the Coastal Bend region since 1973 in Victoria, Texas, offers courses leading to more than 80 academic programs in the schools of Arts & Sciences; Business Administration; and Education, Health Professions & Human Development. UHV provides face-to-face classes at its Victoria campus, as well as an instructional site in Katy, Texas, and online classes that students can take from anywhere. UHV supports the American Association of State Colleges and Universities Opportunities for All initiative to increase awareness about state colleges and universities and the important role they have in providing a high-quality and accessible education to an increasingly diverse student population, as well as contributing to regional and state economic development.
