UHV ranked No. 15 on affordable accounting degree list

Small class sizes, affordable tuition and a first-rate accreditation helped land the University of Houston-Victoria on a list of top schools where students can earn accounting degrees.

Online-Accounting-Degrees.net recently published an article ranking the top 100 most affordable selective small colleges for accounting. UHV was ranked No. 15 on the list.

The website considered four factors in putting together the rankings: accreditation, undergraduate student enrollment, applicant admittance rate and average net price. The UHV School of Business Administration is accredited by AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Less than 5 percent of business schools worldwide earn this mark of excellence.

“We take pride in offering quality accounting instruction led by outstanding faculty members, so it’s nice to receive this recognition,” said Farhang Niroomand, dean of the UHV School of Business Administration. “Small class sizes, convenience and affordability are among the reasons we have built a reputation as a great institution for obtaining undergraduate and graduate accounting degrees.”

UHV’s Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting prepares students for continued education, employment opportunities or the Certified Public Accountant examination requirements. The 120-credit-hour program requires seven accounting classes and 13 additional other upper-division business courses.

UHV also offers two accounting options for graduate students, the Strategic and Global Master of Business Administration degrees with concentrations in accounting.

The 48-credit-hour Strategic MBA involves strategic planning integrated throughout the program. The Global MBA, which can be finished in 30 hours, concentrates on giving graduates the abilities needed to manage global companies. All graduate courses in these two programs incorporate real-world, applied learning by discussing current business issues, reading case studies, and taking part in simulations and team projects.

Students with a BBA in accounting who finish the Global MBA with an accounting concentration will satisfy the 150 credit hours required to sit for the CPA exam.

Online-Accounting-Degrees.net is a website that aims to prepare students to work in accounting firms. For this list, only schools with less than 3,000 undergraduates that admit 60 percent or fewer of its applicants were considered.
