“We are delighted to host a night at the ballpark and look forward to seeing our friends in the Victoria community,” UHV President Vic Morgan said. “We receive so much community support throughout the year. This is a way to thank them and enjoy a free night of baseball together.”

Fans will receive UHV giveaways at the gate. They also can take part in games and contests between innings throughout the evening. UHV’s jaguar mascot, jaX, will be on hand to greet the crowd.

The Generals play in the Texas Collegiate League, a collegiate summer wooden bat league consisting of teams from Texas and Louisiana. The Cane Cutters are based out of Youngsville, La. Although there are no UHV baseball players on the Generals’ roster this summer, there are players with ties to Victoria.

Michael Brawner, a 2015 graduate from St. Joseph High School in Victoria, is pitching for the Generals for the second straight season. Brawner plays at Louisiana State University-Eunice.

Zac Leigh, a 2016 Victoria East High School graduate, came back home for the summer to help the Generals. Leigh is a relief pitcher at Texas State University.

The Generals also have players from several Division I college teams such as University of Arkansas and Delaware State University. There also are international players from Australia, Canada and Venezuela.

Area residents can pick up tickets at three locations in Victoria during normal business hours.

  • City of Victoria Public Information Office, 702 N. Main St., Suite 113
