Latin Dance Lessons to UHV Students, Faculty, Staff, Alumni, and the Community

Who: Gamma Beta Phi and the Mexican American Student Organization (MASO) at the University of Houston-Victoria (UHV) team up to offer Latin dance lessons to UHV students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community.

What: Gamma Beta Phi and MASO have invited George Blaha, owner of Blaha’s Dance Studio, to teach beginners the basics of salsa and merengue dancing. Lessons will be followed by a Fall Fling dance where participants can practice their new moves and network with the University community. The cost for four lessons is $40 per couple, which includes admission to the dance. Individuals who just want to attend the dance can purchase tickets for $5 each. Half of the proceeds will benefit the Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA), and half will be shared by the two student organizations.

When: Lessons will be offered on Tues., Sept. 6, 13, and 27 at 7 p.m. and on Tues., Sept. 20 at 8 p.m. The Fall Fling dance will be on Fri., Sept. 30 at 8 p.m.

Where: The lessons and dance will be hosted in the University Center Multi Purpose Room at 3007 N. Ben Wilson Street on the UHV campus.
