For the sixth consecutive year, the University of Houston-Victoria has been recognized for its work by the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) and NAIA Sports Information Directors Association (NAIA-SID).

UHV Sports Information Specialist Paul Ebner and UHV Marketing & Communications Creative Services Manager George Rodriguez recently were recognized by the two organizations in their publication’s and media contests at the annual CoSIDA Summer Convention.

UHV brought home nine awards from the convention as Ebner and Rodriguez swept the top three spots in the CoSIDA Single Sports Program – College Division contest. UHV’s baseball program took top honors, while the softball program was runner-up, and the men’s and women’s soccer program placed third.

The Jaguars captured six awards in the NAIA-SID contest, including a first- and second-place finish in the schedule card contest, along with a tie for fifth place in the three entries that were submitted.

Ebner also tied for seventh in the Dr. Jack Bell Writing Contest for feature stories on his feature about women’s soccer player Emily Lupton and was 10th in season preview/review for his men’s soccer preview.

UHV’s athletic website also placed 10th in the Digital Media Production website contest following a redesign led by Marci Wallace, UHV Marketing & Communications web services manager.

“It’s always an honor to be recognized by your peers,” said Ebner. “We have a great working relationship with Marketing & Communications, and George does an exceptional job working with us on our many graphic projects throughout the year.”

UHV Athletics Director Ashley Walyuchow also complimented the duo on their work in promoting not only the UHV athletics department but also the university.

“The quality of worked produced by Paul Ebner and George Rodriguez and the rest of the Marketing & Communications team we work with is unsurpassed,” said Walyuchow. “I think this goes to show how well our departments work together. I’m proud of the recognition they bring to athletics and UHV.”

UHV competes against all NAIA schools in the NAIA SID contest and against all schools except NCAA Division I in the CoSIDA contest.
