EVENT SUMMARY:

In honor and celebration of Black History Month, the Victoria Regional History Center presents “History in the Crossroads,” an exhibition of historic photographs and prominent books relating to the remarkable lives of African American figures in Crossroads’ history.

Photographs from the Victoria Regional History Center's collection highlight Black figures in the history of the Crossroads who broke racial barriers and contributed to the intellectual, political, social or commercial aspects in their communities.

Featured figures include Marie Huff, the first Black registered nurse in Victoria; Dr. C.A. Dudley, a civic leader in the community; Willie Hill, the first Black policeman on Victoria's police force; Virginia Le Blanc, distinguished opera singer; and many more figures in the Crossroads history.
