Carol Klages, right, a University of Houston-Victoria associate professor of Education and a dyslexia specialist, receives her certified dyslexia therapist license July 27 from Mary-Margaret Scholtens, president of the Apple Group, at the group’s headquarters in Jonesboro, Ark. The program prepares educators to become dyslexia specialists and therapists, and teach reading to students with dyslexia. After two years and more than 400 hours of training, Klages is planning to take an additional 250 hours to eventually earn a master therapist license.
