UHV students give presentations at state counseling conference

University of Houston-Victoria graduate students Natika Johnson, left, and Claudia Calero, right, pose with Wayne Smith, a UHV assistant professor of counselor education during the Texas Counseling Association’s Professional Growth Conference, where the students recently presented research. Johnson led a presentation titled “The Impostor Syndrome: Building Counseling Foundations That Overcome Shame and Self-Doubt,” which had more than 60 attendees. Calero took the lead on the presentation “Time to get Woke! Promoting Social Justice and Counselor Advocacy,” which led to thought-provoking discussion from the audience, Smith said. Both students are Katy residents.
