Individual at UHV tests positive for COVID-19

The University of Houston-Victoria recently was informed about an individual on campus who tested positive for COVID-19.

The individual has been quarantined since Aug. 1, and it has been determined that there was no significant contact with other individuals on campus. In addition, the individual was wearing a mask, and all affected areas have been sanitized.

“We are continuing to take every precaution possible to ensure the health and safety of our students and employees,” UHV President Bob Glenn said. “As we prepare to welcome students back for the fall semester, we are working to ensure that students, faculty and staff have flexible, safe options available.”

On Aug. 11, the university moved to Phase 3 of UHV’s phased reopening plan. This meant that up to 30 percent of UHV staff could return to their offices on the Victoria campus and at the UHV Katy instructional site since the locations closed because of the pandemic.

Classes will be taught both in-person and online this fall through hybrid, real-time online or traditional online formats with a limited number of students and employees on campus. Fall classes start Aug. 24.

The University of Houston-Victoria, located in the heart of the Coastal Bend region, offers courses leading to more than 65 bachelor’s and master’s degree programs and concentrations in the schools of Arts & Sciences, Business Administration, Education & Human Development, and Nursing.
