Middle school students learn about robotics during summer camp
Mandeep Jain, left, and Robert Jones, both eighth-graders at Howell Middle School, work on their robot’s program Tuesday during the Middle School Robotics Summer Camp at the University of Houston-Victoria. During the camp, seven students from area middle schools learned how to program robots to complete tasks such as detecting colors and following a path marked out by a black line. The camp is one of several mathematics and robotics summer camps at UHV that are funded by a grant from Alcoa Foundation.
The University of Houston-Victoria, located in the heart of the Coastal Bend region, offers courses leading to more than 65 bachelor’s and master’s degree
programs and concentrations in the schools of Arts & Sciences, Business Administration, Education & Human Development, and Nursing. UHV provides face-to-face
classes at its Victoria campus as well as teaching sites in Fort Bend and Harris counties, and online classes that students can take from anywhere. Since its
