Two UHV Professors Write Articles Exploring Education
Walton’s article, titled “The Internationalization of American Business Education: Are U.S. Students Less Ethnocentric?” appeared in the summer issue of the Business Review, Cambridge, an academic journal that publishes scientific research findings. To write the article, Walton drew on his experiences teaching business students at UHV. The university has made recent strides to increase its international offerings.
Trowbridge’s article will appear in a forthcoming issue of the Phi Delta Kappan, a professional journal for education. It explores time-honored practices such as grading systems, age-based placement and learning on a prescribed time schedule. Titled “Education Rituals: Questioning How We Educate Our Children,” the article examines the effectiveness of these practices and how we might rethink them in the future.
“These articles are clear evidence that UHV faculty are part of the dialogue shaping the future of education in this country. And our students in the present benefit, because they are being taught by professionals who are thinking about what works and doesn’t work in education and bringing that to bear in their own classrooms,” said UHV President Tim Hudson.
Walton, who holds a doctorate from Texas Tech University, is currently an assistant professor of marketing. Trowbridge is an associate professor in education and holds a doctorate in education from Texas A&M University in 1996. Both professors have published widely in professional journals.
