Pettit garners A.I.I. honor

University of Houston-Victoria first baseman Courtney Pettit has been named the Association of Independent Institutions Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 21.

The senior from Deer Park, led the Jaguars to a 4-2 record this past week, totaling eight hits and a .421 batting average over the six games. She hit two home runs and registered seven RBI, taking her slugging percentage to .842 over that stretch.

Pettit played a pivotal role in a pair of wins over Huston-Tillotson as well as wins over St. Gregory’s and Friends University. She also recorded the Jaguars lone hit in a loss to Oklahoma City and was 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in a loss to Belhaven.

For the season she is batting .400 with two doubles, two homes runs, nine RBI and six runs scored, with a .720 slugging percentage. She also has 50 putouts and two assists from her first base position.
