The University of Houston-Victoria pitcher Emily Bergstrom became the second Jaguars player to earn Association of Independent Institutions Female Athlete of the Week honors.
Bergstrom, a junior from El Campo, earned the honor for her performance in the circle for the Jaguars in a 7-2 win over Our Lady of the Lake on Saturday.
It was the second straight week for a Jaguars softball player to win the award.
The left-hander allowed two runs on five hits in pitching a complete game. She retired the final 14 batters she faced to help the Jaguars come away with a split over OLLU.
For the season, Bergstrom is 3-0 and leads the team with a 1.59 ERA. In 22 innings, she has allowed six runs on 23 hits and one walk, while striking out 14. She has allowed just one extra base hit, a double, and opponents are batting .271 against her.
