King, Garner tabbed for A.I.I. weekly honors

For the second straight week, University of Houston-Victoria athletes have swept Association of Independent Institution weekly athlete honors for the week ending April 4, 2011.
UHV infielder Kelly King has been named the A.I.I. Female Athlete of the week, while Rex Garner has been tabbed as the A.I.I. Male Athlete of the Week.
King, a junior from Delta, British Columbia, Canada, finished the week hitting at a .462 clip going 6-for-13 at the plate with two RBI and two runs. She had a triple and a .615 slugging percentage as the Jaguars split series with Texas Southern and Houston Baptist.
Garner, a senior pitcher from Victoria, went 2-0 on the week with a 1.80 ERA in wins over the university of the Incarnate Word and UT-Brownsville. In two starts, he had one complete game and worked 10 innings allowing four runs on 13 hits and three walks, while striking out seven.
