UHV softball team ranked No. 9 in the country

The University of Houston-Victoria Jaguars softball game received its highest ranking ever coming in at No. 9 in this week’s regular-season edition of the 2011 NAIA Softball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll.

The Jaguars (34-14) are coming off a 5-1 week with a pair of wins over Our Lady of the Lake and Texas Wesleyan, while splitting a pair of games with Texas Southern.

UHV had been ranked No. 12 over the past two weeks and moved up a spot after the University of Mobile fell from No. 8 to No. 18.

UHV conference foes California State University-San Marcos remained at No. 3, while Central Baptist College moved up from No. 5 to No. 4.

California Baptist University (53-3) for the 22nd-straight time boasts the No. 1 ranking after again claiming all 24 first-place votes. William Carey University (49-4) remained at No. 2.

The University of Houston-Victoria, located in the heart of the Coastal Bend region since 1973 in Victoria, Texas, offers courses leading to more than 80 academic programs in the schools of Arts & Sciences; Business Administration; and Education, Health Professions & Human Development.
