Himesh Gandhi, an attorney and Sugar Land city councilman, will deliver the keynote address during the Dec. 15 University of Houston-Victoria fall graduation ceremony.
Commencement will begin at 11 a.m. at the Leonard E. Merrell Center, 6301 S. Stadium Lane in Katy.
Gandhi is an attorney and partner with the law firm Hrbacek & Gandhi P.C. He represents individuals and businesses in real estate, business issues, corporate and commercial matters, and litigation.
Known for his community and civic involvement, Gandhi was elected in May to the City Council. At age 35, he became the youngest candidate in history to win an at-large Sugar Land City Council seat.
“It’s an honor and a privilege to have been asked to participate in this very special day, a significant milestone that marks a new beginning for our next generation of leaders,” Gandhi said. “As these young men and women embark on their next journey, I hope they remember this commencement as a turning point in their lives and a day of hope and opportunity. I am looking forward to sharing in this momentous occasion.”
Gandhi visited with UHV administrators, faculty and staff while attending the UHV School of Business Administration awards reception in September at UH Sugar Land.

Gandhi earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Houston Baptist University. He went on to obtain a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the South Texas College of Law.
Prior to his election to the City Council, Gandhi served on the Sugar Land Planning and Zoning Commission, Building Standards Commission and Redistricting Committee.
He also has been a board member for several community organizations, including the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce, Child Advocates of Fort Bend and Sugar Land Exchange Club. He was the past chairman of the Indo American Forum and the vice chairman of Arc of Fort Bend.
Gandhi is a graduate of several Sugar Land citizen awareness programs, including Sugar Land 101, the Sugar Land Citizens Fire Academy and the Sugar Land Citizens Police Academy.
“We express our appreciation to Councilman Gandhi for agreeing to be our keynote speaker,” Castille said. “Our graduates will benefit from hearing his message.”
