UHV open house to help students prepare for summer, fall semesters

University of Houston-Victoria staff members are preparing for a special event geared toward prospective, current and transfer students who need to finalize their to-do lists before summer and fall classes start.

The UHV Open House will be from 4 to 6 p.m. May 23 in the Multi-Purpose Room of the UHV University Center, 3007 N. Ben Wilson St. There is no cost to attend, and no advance registration is required. Summer classes begin June 3, and fall classes get underway Aug. 26.

“Students always have last minute items that need to be completed before the semester starts,” said Billy Lagal, manager of UHV’s Letting Education Achieve Dreams and student recruitment programs. “This event gathers all the resources needed for students to finalize requirements needed before starting the summer or fall semesters.”

UHV representatives from the four academic schools and different service departments will be on hand to guide students through any requirements they need to complete before the semesters begin. Representatives also will be able to answer any questions students have about the campus and student life.

At the open house, students will be able to:

  • Fill out an admission application
  • Register for courses
  • Talk with an advisor
  • Apply for financial aid
  • Sign up for student housing
  • Make a fee payment
  • Learn about student life activities
  • Take a campus tour

Students who are transferring from another school, or who are heading back to college, can bring a copy of their unofficial transcripts for on-site advising or registration. Any necessary immunization documentation, including a record of the state-required bacterial meningitis vaccine for students under age 30, also can be brought along.

For more information about the open house, contact the UHV Office of Admission at 361-570-4110 or admissions@uhv.edu.
