UHV Educator Preparation Program Receives “Accredited” Rating
“We are pleased to receive such positive recognition for our educator certification programs,” said Dr. John Stansell, Dean for the School of Education and Human Development at UHV. “Such endorsement represents the quality of instruction offered at the university.”
According to the Texas Education Agency, accreditation ratings are based on performance standards and are issued annually to each educator preparation program in Texas. The standards represent successful performance by a program’s candidates on the examinations required for certification as an educator.
UHV President Dr. Tim Hudson commented, “This rating not only reinforces the quality instruction and academic programs offered at UHV, but specifically demonstrates the knowledge and expertise of our School of Education graduates. Individuals graduating from our educator preparation programs are graduating well-prepared.”
The academic rating announcement follows a recent $3 million grant awarded to UHV in partnership with the American Productivity and Quality Center for the development of a school leadership pilot program. Aimed to assist principals in under-performing schools, the program will provide business and management training to school administrators.
