School of Arts and Sciences Will Soon Offer Undergraduate Gaming Program
According to Dr. Jeffrey Di Leo, dean for the School of Arts and Sciences at UHV, “This program will prepare students for careers in video game development. Occupations in this industry are in high demand.”
Some of the core courses in this proposed undergraduate program include the following: Artificial Intelligence, Game Engines, Advanced Game Programming using DirectX and Gaming Networks Architecture.
Students wishing to pursue this degree plan will also have many electives to choose from, including Game Intership, Art for Gaming, Operating Systems and Software Engineering.
“The new program is part of the university’s ongoing commitment to provide a diverse range of academic degree programs,” said UHV President Dr. Tim Hudson. “We are pleased to offer this concentration as part of a burgeoning, nationwide interest.”
The Digital Gaming and Simulation concentration will offer students an in-depth study of the history, philosophy, ethics, and sociology of digital games and game playing. The concentration will be available to bachelor of applied arts and sciences as well as computer science majors.
