UHV to host free ticket night at Victoria Generals game
Area residents can now pick up tickets for a free night of baseball, giveaways and contests at an upcoming Victoria Generals game.
Free Ticket Tuesday at the Victoria Generals will be June 21 at Riverside Stadium and is presented by the University of Houston-Victoria. First pitch is 7:05 p.m. against the Acadiana Cane Cutters.
“We’re delighted to team up with the Generals once again for a free ticket night,” UHV President Vic Morgan said. “It’s a great chance for everyone in the Victoria area to have a fun evening out at the ballpark at no cost.”
Fans will receive a UHV stadium cup and other giveaways at the gate. They also can take part in games and contests between innings throughout the evening. UHV’s jaguar mascot, jaX, will be on hand to greet the crowd.
The Generals play in the Texas Collegiate League, a collegiate summer wooden bat league consisting of teams from Texas and Louisiana. Although there are no UHV baseball players on the Generals’ roster this summer, there are several players with ties to Victoria and the surrounding area.
University of Arkansas pitcher Michael Brawner, an alumnus of St. Joseph High School in Victoria, plays for the Generals this season. Victoria East alumnus Kyle Craft also is spending the summer playing for his hometown team. A pitcher at Wharton Junior College the past two seasons, Craft will play at Nicholls State in Thibodaux, La., next season.
El Campo High School alumnus Bryce Brandl, now an outfielder at St. Mary’s University, is playing for the Generals for the second straight season. Chris Jones, a southpaw pitcher from Hallettsville, is back for a third season with the Generals. Jones transferred to St. Mary’s after two years at the University of Incarnate Word.
The Generals also have players from several top college teams in Texas, including University of Texas pitcher Chance Callihan and Texas A&M University pitcher Lee May Gonzalez.
Area residents can pick up free Generals tickets at three locations in Victoria during normal business hours.
