UHV online graduate special education program ranked 11th most affordable in nation
The University of Houston-Victoria’s Master of Education in special education recently was ranked 11th in the 2016 Top 25 Most Affordable Online Master’s in Special Education list by Master’s in Special Education Program Guide.
“This acknowledgement of our master’s in special education degree is a welcome honor,” said Fred Litton, dean of the UHV School of Education, Health Professions & Human Development. “It’s an external validation of what UHV and our school are all about – meeting the needs of teachers and school districts in our area and beyond.”
When assembling the list, the guide editors looked at accredited schools that offered online master’s degrees in special education with low in-state tuition. UHV was one of five Texas institutions on the list.
UHV’s 30-credit-hour graduate program is focused on meeting the need of school districts for qualified, certified professionals in special education, Litton said. The program offers several concentrations, including applied behavioral analysis, autism and diagnostician certification.
The program has strong, knowledgeable faculty members with years of experience and success working with students, both online and face to face, Litton said.
“We’ve been teaching online classes for many years, and we’re constantly looking for ways to improve our online interactions,” he said. “Online is an attractive option because it allows working professionals in rural areas and districts access they wouldn’t be able to have otherwise. When you combine that flexibility with affordable tuition, it’s a great option for anyone.”
