UHV named second most affordable online college in Texas
The University of Houston-Victoria’s affordability and small class sizes helped land the university on a national list for the most affordable online colleges.
AffordableCollegesOnline.org ranked UHV as the 43rd most affordable college in the U.S. and second among four-year universities in Texas. The website looked at public institutions and ranked them based on accreditation, in-state tuition and fees, percent of full-time undergraduate students receiving financial aid, number of online programs available, student-to-teacher ratio and six-year graduation rate.
“UHV is consistently acknowledged as one of the most affordable institutions in the country,” UHV President Vic Morgan said. “The university emphasizes the importance of making education affordable and accessible, and this ranking is confirmation that those efforts continue to successfully serve students’ needs.”
The Affordable Colleges website determined the rankings by examining the different criteria and giving each university a score on a scale of 100. In the national list, UHV received a score of 96.69. UHV scored 99.54 on the Texas list. Both listings cited UHV’s high percentage of students who receive financial aid, low faculty-to-student ratio and affordable tuition.

Texas is second in the nation in the number of institutions offering online degree programs. UHV’s convenient online and evening courses make the ability to earn a degree attainable for students everywhere.
UHV offers 19 undergraduate programs and concentrations online once lower-division courses are completed. The programs include Bachelor of Business Administration concentrations such as finance, general business, healthcare management, marketing, management and supply chain management, as well as popular bachelor’s degree programs in creative writing, psychology, communications and history. The university also offers more than a dozen online master’s programs and concentrations in three academic schools.

The University of Houston-Victoria, located in the heart of the Coastal Bend region since 1973 in Victoria, Texas, offers courses leading to more than 80 academic programs in the schools of Arts & Sciences; Business Administration; and Education, Health Professions & Human Development.
