Jaguars weekend washed out

The UHV Jaguars’ baseball games scheduled for Friday, March 7, 2008 and Saturday, March 8, 2008 at Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, Texas have been cancelled due to inclement weather conditions in the Hawkins area.

“After speaking with Coach Malcolm Walker at Jarvis Christian College, it was decided to cancel the games this weekend,” said UHV athletic director Ashley Walyuchow. “With subfreezing temperatures, rain and chance of snow in the Hawkins area I felt the safety of our students, coaches and others, was jeopardized.”

Jaguars’ lefty Jason Krog was disappointed upon hearing the news.

“It never feels good to have a rain out but this does give me an opportunity to concentrate on my mid-terms,” said Krog.

There is a possibility the games will be made up later this spring.

“I am working with Coach Walker to find a time to reschedule the games,” said Walyuchow.

The Jaguars next action will be at home, Sunday, March 16, when Cardinal Stritch University from Milwaukee, WI visits Victoria for a doubleheader beginning at Noon.
