The University of Houston-Victoria School of Business Administration is streamlining its Global and Strategic Master of Business Administration degrees this fall to accommodate students’ changing lifestyles and better prepare them to compete in the business world.

“The School of Business Administration is committed to meeting the needs of our students by offering affordable, quality programs and being responsive to changes in the marketplace,” said James Jordan-Wagner, the school’s interim dean.

Starting in the fall, the requirement to complete either the Global or Strategic MBA programs will be 36 credit hours. In addition, the fees for both programs will be reduced to $45 a credit hour.

The UHV School of Business Administration faculty decided to make the changes after consulting with potential employers, regional economic development leaders, UHV alumni and current students, said Jeff Blodgett, a UHV marketing professor.

“UHV has been a leader in offering online MBA programs,” Blodgett said. “We were one of the first online MBA degrees in the Greater Houston area, and the revisions to our programs will build on that leadership. The new programs are more integrative and rigorous, and will provide our graduates with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the workplace.”

The UHV Strategic MBA focuses on business strategy and policy. It is offered at the UHV Katy teaching center with some courses available online. The Global MBA is designed for students who desire a completely online program with an international focus. Classes are offered in an eight-week format.

UHV’s School of Business Administration is accredited by AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Less than 5 percent of business schools throughout the world are accredited by the organization. In January, the Houston Business Journal named the UHV MBA program the third largest in the Houston area based on enrollment for the second year in a row.
