UHV Presentation To Help First-Time College Applicants In Victoria
The University of Houston-Victoria Letting Education Achieve Dreams initiative along with the Office of Student Recruitment and Relations will be presenting information on scholarships and college funding at an event on Thursday, April 20, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Memorial High School Viper Room.
High school seniors, parents wanting their children to attend college, and adults interested in furthering their own education are all encouraged to come to the presentation. Attendees will have a chance to win a $1000 First-Generation College Scholarship.
“Often people assume they can’t afford to pursue higher education, not realizing they qualify for many different kinds of financial aid,” said Ersilia Garcia, LEAD program coordinator. “People who hope to be the first in their families to go to college can especially benefit from the resources and information available at this event.”
Representatives from the LEAD Office and the Office of Student Recruitment will be joined by counselors from Victoria College and the Education Opportunity Center. Refreshments will be served.
The presentation will be free and open to the public. Due to limited seating, those interested in attending are encouraged to RSVP at (361) 570-4377. Attendees will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis.
