GetEducated.com, a national group that rates online college programs, recently ranked the University of Houston-Victoria’s Bachelor of Business Administration as the sixth best buy in the country and the best in Texas.
The group, which evaluates schools by cost and quality, gave UHV top marks among a crowd of 83 regionally accredited colleges offering 391 courses in business or management.
“Texas residents can save, on average, $21,000 by choosing UHV as their online alma mater,” GetEducated’s founder Vicky Phillips said. She noted the average cost for a business degree from a regionally accredited business school is $43,241, while in-state students can earn a degree from UHV for about $22,080.
In addition, she noted students can get assurances of quality because the UHV School of Business Administration is accredited by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, one of the most prestigious accrediting bodies in the world.
GetEducated.com ranked UHV’s Global Master of Business Administration second and its Strategic MBA 11th on its list of the top 30 high-quality, low-cost online business programs in 2007.
“We strive to offer our students excellence, accessibility and affordability,” said Farhang Niroomand, dean of the UHV School of Business Administration. “These rankings are another confirmation that we are being successful in those efforts. I want to thank everyone in the school who helped make this possible and encourage them to keep up the fine work.”
UHV President Tim Hudson praised the school for the award.
“I want to commend everyone at the School of Business Administration for their efforts to keep quality high and costs low through continuous innovation,” he said. “The success of our business school continues to bring national attention to this entire institution.”
GetEducated.com first recognized UHV in 2004 when it ranked the Strategic MBA fourth as a “Best Buy” in regionally accredited universities across the country. UHV received AACSB accreditation in 2005, and its Strategic MBA was ranked ninth in 2005 compared with other AACSB-accredited schools.
