Among the 100 outstanding women leaders chosen for the Leadership Texas Class of 2010 is a University of Houston-Victoria official.

Robin Cadle, director of stewardship and planned giving, was chosen through a competitive application process to participate in the program.

Leadership Texas, now in its 27th consecutive year, is the flagship program of the Foundation for Women’s Resources headquartered in Dallas. Leadership Texas is patterned after the co-educational civic programs that have found success in a number of cities throughout the nation, including Leadership Victoria. More than 2,500 women have completed the Texas program. It is the longest-running U.S. women’s leadership development program.

The yearlong program is structured around five, 2 1/2-day sessions. One session is generally held in Austin, with the other four session locations rotating each year, according to the foundation’s Web site.

“She will learn advanced leadership skills and about some of the key issues facing the state from its top leaders,” said Margaret Rice, UHV chief of staff and a member of the Leadership Texas Class of 2009. “The issues she’ll learn about affect higher education in many ways, and the contacts she’ll make will be very beneficial to the university as we move forward.”

It was many of these reasons that led Cadle to seek admission to Leadership Texas.

“I applied for the program to get a better knowledge of how the state functions and to network with leaders from across the state,” Cadle said. “It’s a real honor to have been chosen.”

Cadle prides herself on her dedication to education and is working on her third UHV master’s degree. She holds a Master of Business Administration degree and a Master of Education in Administration Supervision with a concentration in general leadership from UHV. She is working on a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in publishing and management.

“I’m a big believer in education, for myself as well as anyone else,” Cadle said. “It really empowers a person to reach his or her full potential.”

Cadle started at UHV in 2001 in what was then Student Services & Regional Outreach. She was promoted to University Advancement and named Employee of the Year in 2004.

She serves as secretary on the board for the Bluebonnet Youth Ranch and is a member of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, a national organization. She also is a United Way 2010 community investment volunteer.

Cadle will be the third administrator at UHV to go through the program. Suzanne LaBrecque, provost and vice president for academic affairs, attended in 1998 while working at another university.
