UHV to host third annual Leadercast Women conference

The University of Houston-Victoria Small Business Development Center will present its third annual Leadercast Women to inspire attendees to be courageous in their leadership endeavors.

Lindsay Young

Leadercast Women, a worldwide leadership conference, will be broadcast Nov. 8 from an event held in Atlanta. The conference will feature nine speakers and will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Victory Center, 3102 N. Laurent St.

The conference theme is “Take Courage.” Top female leaders who have made significant achievements in their businesses and communities will share their stories and insights to help attendees grow as leaders. The goal is to encourage attendees and provide them with tools they can use at their workplaces. While geared toward women, the conference is open to everyone.

“Just like the theme indicates, courage is not the absence of fear but is acting in spite of fear,” SBDC Director Lindsay Young said. “At this year’s Leadercast Women, we want our attendees to be emboldened to take courage in their daily lives, whether it be in the workplace or at home.”

During the event this year, attendees also will have the opportunity to view a Women’s Business Showcase. The booths will feature various female-owned vendors in the community who will have their products and services available for purchase, said Whitney Schroeder, UHV SBDC training coordinator.

“The Women’s Business Showcase is new this year, so we’re extremely excited to offer the opportunity to our local businesses as well as our attendees,” she said. “We want to support our local, female-owned businesses and empower them to succeed.”

The speakers will be:

  • Kate Delaney, Emmy award-winning journalist and host, “The Kate Delaney Show”
  • Kendra Scott, jewelry designer and founder, Kendra Scott
  • Susan Packard, co-founder of Scripps Networks Interactive and former COO, HGTV
  • Francesca Gino, researcher and professor, Harvard Business School
