UH-Victoria to Host Business Development Conference in Houston

The University of Houston-Victoria School of Business Administration is co-sponsoring the Excel Team Business Initiative’s second bi-annual Small Business Conference on Thursday, Aug. 31, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Houston Community College System Administration Building auditorium, located at 3100 Main St. Themed “Economic Empowerment Through Entrepreneurship and Business Development,” the conference will target businesses in operation from one to five years.

Dennis Kimbro, author of Think and Grow Rich: A Black Choice and What Makes the Great, Great, will be the keynote speaker. Workshop topics include transitioning from startup to emerging business, developing a business plan and accumulating capital, developing communication skills in a multicultural society, doing business with government agencies, marketing, and customer service.

Registration is available at www.theexcelteam.org. The cost to attend the conference is $50, with proceeds benefiting the Future African-American Leaders program for high school students.
