Elliott Edwards is ready to try something new next school year, so when he heard from his counselor about the University of Houston-Victoria adding underclassmen, he thought the university sounded interesting.

“I want to come to UHV to be part of the FIRST 200,” said the senior from Madison High School in Houston. “I’ll be starting something new.”

Edwards plans to major in business at UHV and eventually would like to be a lawyer in the entertainment industry.

At his high school, he has been involved with numerous clubs, including the Future Farmers of America, the Future Business Leaders of America, Student Council, the Library Club and the Fashion Club. He hopes to join some new clubs when he becomes a UHV student.

The University of Houston-Victoria, located in the heart of the Coastal Bend region since 1973 in Victoria, Texas, offers courses leading to more than 80 academic programs in the schools of Arts & Sciences; Business Administration; and Education, Health Professions & Human Development. UHV provides face-to-face classes at its Victoria campus, as well as an instructional site in Katy, Texas, and online classes that students can take from anywhere. UHV supports the American Association of State Colleges and Universities Opportunities for All initiative to increase awareness about state colleges and universities and the important role they have in providing a high-quality and accessible education to an increasingly diverse student population, as well as contributing to regional and state economic development.
