Four members of the University of Houston-Victoria Jaguars softball team have been selected to the 2010 Louisville Slugger/NFCA NAIA All-Southwest Region team.

Juniors Allison Hinton (Matagorda) and Courtney Pettit (Deer Park) were named to the first team, while seniors Izzy Glowney (The Woodlands) and Tasha Rotramel (Lake Jackson) were selected to the second team.

“I’m proud of all these girls and the recognition they received,” UHV coach Keri Lambeth said on having four players selected to the regional team. “This speaks highly for our program and shows Victoria has some really good athletes coming out of its program and is being recognized for its successes.”

Hinton, chosen as a third baseman, compiled a .368 batting average and led the team with 10 home runs, four triples and 45 RBI in 52 games. She also scored 40 runs, banged out 11 doubles and had a .649 slugging percentage.

Pettit, the Jaguars’ first baseman, was chosen for an at-large position on the regional first team. In 50 games, she compiled a .390 average and led the team with 18 doubles. She also scored 31 runs, had 39 RBI, hit five home runs and two triples, while compiling a .623 slugging percentage.

“Allison was a big bat for us all season and came through with lots of key hits and Courtney’s bat will be welcomed back next year as will her defensive skills,” Lambeth said of her two first teamers.

Glowney and Rotramel were both selected to the second team at-large position.

Glowney, the Jaguars’ second baseman, compiled a .321 average in 52 games and led the team with 47 runs, 30 stolen bases and 32 walks. She also banged out 11 doubles, four home runs and three triples, while driving in 29 runs.

Rotramel was UHV’s ace in the circle this season compiling a 16-12 record with three saves. She started 25 games and tossed 22 complete games, including two no-hitters as she compiled a 1.69 earned run average. She allowed 51 runs on 120 hits and 50 walks, while striking out 143 batters in 178 innings.

“Tasha was our workhorse in the circle the last two years and very deserving of the award and Izzy was a threat of the base paths for us and she started every game for the last two years,” Lambeth said. “They both will be tough to replace next year.”

All four players also garnered Association of Independent Institutions All-Conference honors this season as well.

National Fastpitch Coaches Association member coaches in each of the five regions select the Louisville Slugger/UFCA All-Region teams and honorees are now eligible to be selected as either a first or second team All-American.
